Trust and honesty

What Homeling is, in plain words

Homeling Verify is a drop-in age gate for sites in scope of the UK Online Safety Act. This page says exactly what it does today, what it does not do, and where to reach a human. We would rather under-promise than have you find a gap later.

1. What it does, and what it does not do

You paste one snippet before the closing body tag of a page. In this beta the snippet renders an interim gate that runs in clearly labelled sandbox mode. Certified age checks switch on at onboarding, not before.

What it does

  • Drops a live age-gate placeholder onto your page in about ten minutes.
  • Scores an eight-question readiness self-assessment into a letter grade you set yourself.
  • Publishes a public status badge only for a site that opted in and carries a real grade.
  • Keeps the sandbox gate marked as a demo with a ribbon you cannot remove.

What it does not do

  • Perform a real age check in the sandbox. It performs no checks and stores nothing without a live key.
  • See, upload or keep a visitor's ID document. No ID touches your site.
  • Certify, approve or guarantee your compliance. Homeling is not certified or approved by Ofcom.
  • Give legal advice. The readiness grade and compliance pack are self-assessed templates, not a legal opinion.

Data sources for the figures we cite: Ofcom (Online Safety Act scope and enforcement), GOV.UK (UK under-16 policy announcements), eSafety Australia (account-removal figures), and the Cyberbullying Research Center and NCMEC (teen-harm figures). Statistics are attributed on the homepage; pricing figures shown anywhere on the site are illustrative.

2. Our honesty statement

In our own words, the line we hold to:

  • We show a sandbox gate that is honestly labelled a demo. We never claim it is performing a real age check.
  • We record a readiness grade you assessed yourself. We never call it an Ofcom approval or a certification.
  • We publish a status page or badge only for a site that opted in and carries a real grade. We never fabricate a status.
  • We help you check your own readiness. We never pretend a template is legal advice.
  • We keep the visitor's ID off your site entirely. We never see or store it.

3. Status

Service is live.

Homeling is live at homeling.abunab.workers.dev and free to use right now. It is a UK-first v1. If something looks wrong, or a claim on this site reads as more than it should, tell us: email hello@homeling.com and a human replies.
